Teng Sook Yin
Before I committed to God, I was worried about everything that I had faced to all the time. While I was out of control, I would always throw things. Not only I could not sleep and eat, but also smacked my children.In 2008, I came from Malaysia to UK to look after my grandsons and my daughter’s take-away business. My sister, Esther, would pray for me every day.
My friend, Kam Lian, also invited me to go to church, which was Calvary Chinese Christian Church. Since my daughter baptised, I could see God’s grace on her, her family, and even her business. I had gained more faith in Him. Therefore, I accepted Jesus as my Saviour, and I committed my life to God and chose to become a Christian. Ever since I committed, God has helped me with many things; God really bless my life and my family. While I have problems or worry about anything, I will pray to God and let Him guide me to deal with them. Now, my emotions are under control through God. And I thank God for keeping me safe and protecting me all the time.
I hope that in the future, I will keep following Him, loving Him and serving Him. And I hope that I will spread the good news to other people that haven’t heard< of it yet, so that they can also be saved.

I was brought up in a Christian family, so through my childhood I wastaught that Jesus loved me and all that. Jesus loved me; I didn’t doubt that, but I never really understood what we did to make God love us. My life was focus on myself, so I only concern about myself. When I grew older, I came across a book called “Cat and Dog Theology”, which was about how some Christians believed in God for their own selfish purposes, and I realised it wasn’t what I’ve done or who I am, but what He’s done and who He is. I mean, I’m not that great, but God is amazing. He is love, and so He loved us. After that I started focusing on God, I didn’t pray only whenever I needed help from Him.
But for some reason, I still stayed and focused on earthy things. I wasn’t grateful for what I had. Until one day, I was lying in my bed doing nothing in particular when I realised that my room was a mess, but this isn’t a metaphor for how my life was a mess. Instead, it was, at that moment, I saw all the junk that filled my room making me think that I once wanted things that I took for granted. I saw that my life was good enough as it was, and I didn’t think I wanted any more unnecessary things. There was a verse in Romans 12:2 that stuck in my head afterwards, “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--His good, pleasing and perfect will.” It reminded me that I shouldn’t just focus on earthy things but instead of letting myself be changed and know the will of God, because it is Him that matters not me.
Before committed to Jesus
Before I committed to God, I had less confidence and lacked of sense of security. Whenever I faced with a difficult situation, I would not know what to do. All I can do is panic. Even though I had no idea what to do, I still tried to tackle my problems with my own ways which always led me in the wrong direction.
Reason for committed to Jesus
I committed and chose to become a family member of God, because I wanted my family and me to have a better life, so I wanted to become a part of God’s family. From the moment I accepted Jesus as my Lord and my Savior, I was reborn. My life now is so full of love, happiness, confidence and hope -- a new life in Christ.
Details of the Gospel
a) We, human, are all sinners
Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”
b) God is great; He loves the world so much that He sent His Son and the only Son who sacrificed for us.
Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
c) Jesus is our Saviour
Romans 10:9-10 “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord”and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”
Summary of Conversion
God healed my unborn baby. While I got pregnant for 12 weeks, my family doctor told me that my blood test result was showing that my fetus got a serious problem. Having heard the news, I and my husband were in shock, panic, worry, and stress. Both of us didn`t know what to do, except for praying to God. Everyone at Calvary Chinese Christian Church prayed for us. All of us believed that God has mighty power, and He would guide us through this ordeal. Then a miracle happened, the third scan result said that my baby was normal. It was so amazing! God really listens and answers to our prayers. We were so pleased and so thankful to God.
After committed to Jesus
Ever since I committed, I became a new person and had a new life. I feel so secure, confident and happy because God gave me a precious gift – an Eternal Life. I study the Bible all the time, and I find it so useful for me. Finally, I want to say I am living in God`s love now. May all glory and praise belong to our mighty God!
